Guadalajara’s vehicle booting initiative that began June 5 in the city center is being enforced slowly but surely.
In the first two months of the program, 114 vehicles have been immobilized with wheel boots for parking violations.
Nearly all the offenders were sanctioned for parking on yellow lines or obstructing pedestrian walkways, the municipal government said.
Councilor Luis Cisneros Quirarte said delivery vehicles made up two-thirds of the total, while the remainder were private cars.
Once the relevant fine has been paid, the clamps are usually removed within 45 minutes, according to Guadalajara city hall.
