On April 23, International Book Day, an all-day public reading of the 1982 novel “Ciudades desiertas” by author José Agustín took place outside the Universidad de Guadalajara rectory building.
Agustín was a Mexican novelist, short story writer, essayist and screenwriter, considered one of the most influential and prolific Mexican writers of the second half of the 20th century. He died on January 16, 2024 aged 79.
