In a reversal following weeks of street protests, legal challenges and mounting public criticism, Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus announced that the proposed public transport fare increase to 14 pesos has been scrapped. Instead, the fare will remain at 11 pesos starting April 1.
The decision walks back a previously planned fare hike from 9.50 to 14 pesos, or 11 pesos if users obtained the new Tarjeta Única banking card. Under the new directive, the 11-peso fare will apply universally, regardless of payment method — whether in cash, with the card, or existing Mi Movilidad cards.
