Chapala Mayor Joaquin Huerta will deliver his first state of the municipality address during a formal session of the city council to be held Saturday, September 14, 11 a.m., at the Auditorio de la Ribera, La Floresta. The Informe de Gobierno event is open to the public.
After 11 months in office that have been marked by the municipality’s dire financial hardships, whispers of conventional wisdom suggest Huerta will be hard pressed to highlight any significant accomplishments or explain away the overall floundering of his administration. Political observers expect that he will focus instead on finger-pointing at prior politicians considered responsible for putting the government between a rock and hard place.
In a cryptic passing comment to local reporters as he exited the August 28 city council meeting, Huerta hinted that the audience will hear some surprising revelations.
