Weekly artisans’ outlet adds flea market section

For just over one year Ajijic’s Friday Artisans’ Market has been an active outlet for locally produced art, handmade crafts, homemade foods, fresh produce and other top quality goods.  As of November 1, the established group of 30 affiliated vendors will broaden horizons to open up a new flea market section where folks can rent a space on a one-time or as-need basis.

The concept is to provide buyers and sellers with a common place to wheel and deal in recycled used items that have outlived their usefulness for the owners. The word is that anything goes, as long as it’s legal.  There is also room for new vendors interested in joining up to do regular business every Friday.

The Artisans’ Market operates out of the ample Huerta de Serna Events Salon located on the highway at the western outskirts of town. The facility offers plenty of free parking, spic-and-span restrooms and snack bar service.

A single day vendor’s fee of 50 pesos includes the use of two tables available on site. Registration time for sellers is 9:15 a.m. Doors are open to the public from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
