Ajijic hosts charro show on Aug. 31

An exhibition of traditional Mexican equestrian arts will be presented in a fiesta atmosphere Sunday, August 31 at Ajijic’s Lienzo Charro arena, located on Calle Revolución, a block and a half south of the highway.

The event will feature horsemen from the Asociación de Charros Pepe Martínez giving a display of roping and riding skills employed in charreada rodeo competitions. The young female riders of the Escaramuz Infantil  Xiricahuas, sponsored by the Asociación de Charros de Ajijic, will perform a galloping drill team routine set to music, riding sidesaddle and dressed in full charra regalia.

Added entertainment at the family-style event will include cowpoke games and live music by Banda Nueva San Andrés, Grupo Norteño Los Bravos de la Caña, and famed singer impersonator Chuy de Ajijic.

Drinks and typical snack foods will be sold on the grounds.

A donation to support Brenda Elizabeth Hernández Ruelas, candidate for Ajijic’s 2014 Fiestas Patrias Queen, will be requested at the gate.
