Chapala was one of 16 Jalisco municipalities cited for debts on the listing of delinquent taxpayers released this month by the El Servicio de Adminstracion (SAT).
Other lakeshore municipalities appearing on the Black List were Poncitlan, Jocotepec, Tizapan el Alto, along with son Ameca, Ahualulco de Mercado, Gomez Farias, Jalostotitlan, Juanacatlan, San Juan de los Lagos, Tala, and Zacoalco de Torres.
The exact amounts owed by each of the local governments were not reported in the SAT press release.
However, one year ago Chapala held a pending bill of 13,999,189 pesos with the National Water Commission for rights of extraction and use of underground water resources which presumably has not been liquidated to date. The unpaid fees correspond to the years 2004 through 2008.
