Lake Chapala recovers 3 centimeters

Thanks to seasonal rains kicking in, the level of Lake Chapala rose by three centimeters in less than four days this week, according to the National Water Commission.

The lake is currently at 43 percent of its total capacity. Each centimeter represents around 10 million cubic meters of water.  The current surface area of Lake Chapala is 99,375 hectares, or 245,561 acres.
