Ajijic dog poisoning suspect fingered

Chapala officials are admitting that circumstantial evidence points to a low-level government employee as the prime suspect in the fatal poisoning of more than 20 dogs reported in Ajijic since last summer.

Oscar España, Chapala City Hall’s top legal officer, admits that the investigation has led to a worker assigned to carry out duties in close proximity to public places where a number of canines consumed fatal doses of a fast-acting toxic substance.

It appears that poisoning incidents have tapered off since the individual was questioned and put on administrative leave from his job.  However, authorities have not obtained the kind of definite proof that would enable them to prosecute and convict the suspected serial canine killer.
