Shooting tally still rising

Chapala police and state authorities were called to the scene of two new shooting incidents, with one fatality reported this week.

A man about 30 years of age was shot Sunday, March 3 around 7:30 p.m. along Ajijic’s Calle Ocampo between cross streets 5 de Febrero and Aquiles Serdán. He was rushed to an emergency facility for medical attention. His current condition is unknown.

The body of a female, age 25 to 30, was discovered Monday, March 4, 8 a.m. at a vacant lot in Chapala’s Santa María neighborhood. The corpse showed two gunshot wounds in the head.

Media reports suggesting that Mexican Navy forces had arrived in Chapala Wednesday morning to boost public security proved inaccurate. A Marina patrol spotted in town had come from Puerto Vallarta to solely to report on administrative matters at the Harbormaster’s office.
