An intense storm that struck the Chapala delegación of Atotonilquillo before dawn Tuesday, August 6, caused a water channel to overflow, flooding 13 homes located on the streets Juan de la Barrera and Juan Escutia.
Water rose as high as 20 centimeters in several of the abodes, damaging the household furnishings and personal belongings of the inhabitants.
The flood was attributed to the blockage of storm drains that had become filled with built-up silt and trash from the street. Civil Protection units from Chapala and Poncitlán were dispatched to clear mud accumulated in the streets and assist homeowners in their cleanup efforts.
