Reciclaje Ajijic’s year-one progress report is all good news

Ajijic’s recycling program has advanced with great strides since its inception 12 months ago, according to Esther Parada, a board member of the citizens committee in charge of operating the project, who presented a progress report to the Chapala Ecology Council at its December 3 session.

Starting from scratch in December of last year, the project has grown in size and scope despite obstacles that have emerged along the way. Parada indicated that the committee’s greatest success has been gaining enthusiastic acceptance in the community, to such a degree that the level of cooperation in separating and depositing recyclable materials has also caused the most daunting stumbling block: implementation of regular and efficient collection.
