Ajijic roundup suspects to face trial

The seven suspects rounded up in Ajijic in an October 7 sting will be processed for prosecution on charges of drug dealing and possession of illegal weapons, the Jalisco’s Attorney General’s Office (Fiscalia or FGE) says.

The suspects were detained by state police during a raid on a small row of houses located on the west end of Ajijic’s Calle Zaragoza, which was under investigation as a possible criminal hideout for holding kidnap victims. No hostages were found on the premises, but officers discovered weaponry and illicit substances on the premises and in the possession of the individuals captured while trying to flee the scene. Evidence seized by the lawmen included two pistols, six long weapons, 173 plastic packets containing a substance resembling crystal meth and a wrapper presumably filled with marijuana.
