Development consultation extended

The period for submitting observations on ordinances drawn up to govern environmental conservation and urban development in the Lake Chapala region has been extended for a second time, with a new deadline set for November 23.

Public consultation on legal instruments proposed by Jalisco’s Environment and Territorial Development Secretariat (Semadet) and urban planning departments in seven lakeshore municipalities has been under way since July.

The process has captured attention from Chapala area environmental activists, students, residents and government officials, who have already registered more than 3,000 counter proposals.
