Birthday bash for the train station

The 104th anniversary of the grand opening of the Chapala Railway Station was marked with a gala celebration held on Saturday, April 13.

pg12bA crowd of around 400 guests joined in festivities that centered on a brief but pivotal chapter in local history and the town’s most emblematic architectural landmark, now the majestic Centro Cultural González Gallo (CCGG).

The  birthday bash was hosted by CCGG Director Gabriela Serrano Suzan under the auspices of the Jalisco Culture Department. Guests spread out in the garden facing the façade of the former station were treated to free hors d’oeuvres and bar service, a performance of regional folk dances and live music by the Orquesta Típica de Chapala, woven into the formalities that are de rigeur for such a momentous occasion.
