Barbara Wheat

Lakeside resident Barbara Wheat died June 22 from complications in her brave fight with cancer. She was 75.

Born October 11, 1936 in Port Arthur, Texas, Barbara married Bill Wheat in 1954. A military wife for more than 20 years, she raised two fine children.

The Wheats moved to the Lake Chapala area in 1996, where Barbara loved to entertain and cook, as evidenced by her many “BING” awards from the Culinary Arts Society of Ajijic (CASA). She was a member of the Lakeside Duplicate Bridge Club.

Always ready to travel, the Wheats enjoyed many overseas adventures together.

She is survived by her husband William of Lakeside; daughter Lisa Wheat of Jacksonville, Florida; son Jeff Wheat (wife Robin) of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; a sister, Billie Frost, of South Carolina and a brother, Wayne Patin of Texas.

Barbara’s personality, sense of humor and beautiful blue eyes will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Donations in her name to the Cancer Society for the fight against breast cancer will be greatly appreciated.
