Beverly Ely Denton

Beverly Jean Persse Ely Denton, a several-decade resident of Riberas del Pilar and lakeside communities, peaceably died unexpectedly on August 8.

pg15aShe was found by her lover and companion of the last five years, Mike Mulbarger, and visiting step daughter Ann Ely Atkins of Beaverton (Portland), Oregon, with Riley, her 11-year-old rescue golden retriever mix beside her bed.

Beverly was born on April 8, 1935 in Buffalo, New York, and graduated from the University of Rochester, majoring in Spanish and Latin American Studies. In the course of these studies, she also spent a year studying Spanish at Mexico City College, now called the College of the Americas.

On her graduation, young and single, she followed her dreams that began with visiting and exploring the world by joining the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Memorable, exciting assignments in Asuncion, Paraguay; Amman, Jordan; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, were accompanied by visits to exotic, colorful cities and monuments within and adjacent to the counties of her assignments.
