Melaque expats demand increased security

Between 200 and 300 expatriate and Mexican residents, community and business leaders of Melaque and Barra de Navidad waited for more than an hour for a meeting in Cihuatlan’s main plaza with municipal officials, Saturday, January 7 to discuss the lack of security in their towns, which they say lead to the killing of Canadian Robin Wood, January 3 in a botched robbery attempt in Melaque.

Melaque expats shocked by murder of Canadian

Expatriate residents in the  coastal town of Melaque area will follow the lead of their Lake Chapala counterparts and put pressure on municipal authorities for improved security in the wake of the slaying of a Canadian citizen this week.

New hospital opens in Paradise Village

A new hospital has opened in the Paradise Village complex in Bahia de Banderas.  The Hospital San Javier Riviera Nayarit is looking to get a lot of its business from the growing medical tourism market, especially from Canada, hospital directors say. The new facility is run by Grupo Empresarial San Javier, which has operated hospitals in Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta for the past 17 and 11 years, respectively.
