Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro disputes data on the federal Health Ministry website showing 17 hospitals in the state to be at their maximum bed capacity for patients diagnosed with Covid-19.
Alfaro said the state’s hospital reconversion program permits a flexible approach, giving hospital administrators the ability to designate more beds with the necessary medical equipment as Covid admissions increase.
Alfaro admitted, however, that the Hospital Regional in Puerto Vallarta has maxed out with Covid-19 patients, and that 12 additional beds with ventilators are being equipped at a health center in the Ixtapa neighborhood of the resort.
