Covid 4th wave could be over in a few weeks

If the downward trend in Covid-19 infections continues at the current rate, the fourth wave of the pandemic in Jalisco and the rest of Mexico could be over a matter of weeks, says University of Guadalajara epidemiologist Carlos Alonso Reynoso.

Confirmed cases have dropped by 68 percent over the past two weeks, while the number of patients hospitalized with Covid decreased from 913 on February 4 to 561 on February 16.

Meanwhile, the vaccination program in Jalisco continues at a brisk pace, with the vacunacion.jalisco.gob.mx platform opening this week for appointments for booster shots for people over 30 years of age, and first jabs for adolescents between 12 and 15.  In the last 13 months, Jalisco has received 55 shipments of vaccines of different brands, totaling 10.83 million shots, of which more than 90 percent have been administered, Jalisco Health Secretary Fernando Petersen Aranguren said this week.
