Space camp begins

Katya Echazarreta (left), the 28-year-old Jalisco native who in June of last year became the first Mexican woman to travel into space, was joined by Governor Enrique Alfaro at the start of the first aerospace camp in Mexico, “Mission Mars 2023.”

Included in the three-week camp for 100 public school secondary level students will be a simulation of a journey to Mars. Speaking at the inauguration of the event, Echazarreta said: “Dreams are nothing if we do not have the necessary opportunities to fulfill that dream.
