Vergara sells Chivas USA

Major League Soccer (MLS) has assumed control of the troubled Chivas USA franchise in Los Angeles, founded in 2005 by Guadalajara nutrition supplements magnate Jorge Vergara.

Mexico brushes aside New Zealand

Mexico’s national soccer team defeated New Zealand 5-1 on Wednesday to virtually guarantee a place in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. El Tri now travel to New Zealand for the return leg on November 20, a game that will surely be a formality.
