Music to resonate at city churches

Included in Guadalajara’s May Festival are a series of recitals to be performed by local choirs, groups and musicians at some of the city’s most iconic templos (churches). 

All are free of charge. Here’s the schedule:

Monday, May 7, 8:45 p.m.  The Zapopan Municipal Choir, directed by Timothy G. Ruff Welch. Templo de Santa Teresa (Morelos 525).

Tuesday, May 8, 8:45 p.m.  Coro de la Universidad Panamericana. Templo de Santa Mónica (Reforma 409).

Tuesday, May 8, 8:45 p.m. Orquesta Sinfónica de Zapopan, directed by Allen Vladimir Gómez. With violinist Oscar Bohórquez. Templo Expiatorio (López Cotilla 935).

Monday, May 21, 8:45 p.m. Faustino Díaz on trombone, Joao Vilão (Portugal) on trumpet and Carlos Gutiérrez on piano. Templo de Santa María de Gracia (Av. Hidalgo 156, to one side of Teatro Degollado)

Tuesday, May 22, 8:45 p.m. Bastien Baumet (France) on euphonium, Branimir León and José León on trombone, and Carlos Gutiérrez on piano. Templo de San Sebastián de Analco (Cuauhtémoc 287).
