Afghanistan

Galeria Quattro (Colon 9, Ajijic) opens an exhibit of 50 black-and-white photographs by Terry Pitzner on Saturday, February 18, 4-7 p.m.

The images were taken during Pitzner’s seven years in Kabul, Afghanistan, where he served as head of the United Nations’ office for repatriation, which provided durable solutions for refugees and Afghan communities.

The photos of a war-ravaged nation offer a unique historical record and a compelling glimpse into Afghan culture. The portraits of young and old show a people living daily on the edge of hope and despair.

The exhibit will be up at Galeria Quattro for a month.

FDR

The January 29 celebration of the 130th birthday of U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt by Democrats Abroad was a big success. Among those in the appreciative audience was the chairperson of the Puerto Vallarta chapter. She asked that the original play performed at the event by local writer Ed Tasca, “FDR: The Man who Gave America its Future,” be reprised for the upcoming Democrats Abroad International Conference in Puerto Vallarta in May.

Tasca is lengthening the play and is looking for a few people to replace cast members who won’t be able to travel to PV. Those interested should contact Lois Schroff at 766-5606 or  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
