A match made in heaven at Bare Stage

Bare Stage Theatre and the Ajijic Writers Group will feature original works by Anna Dresdon and Larry Kolczak in their November production, “Durang and Deranged.”

pg13aLast March, Bare Stage presented Ajijic Writers Group member Alexis Steinkamp’s one-woman show, “A Ton of Bricks and Other Random Sh*t” to sold-out audiences—an event that sparked an ongoing collaboration between the two groups to develop strong, engaging, original material for the stage.

Plans are already underway for May 2026, when both groups will workshop and publicly showcase new works currently in development. It’s an exciting partnership that both organizations feel is a natural fit for the Lakeside community.

Performances of “Durang and Deranged” are scheduled for November 28, 29 and 30 at 4 p.m. Tickets are 200 pesos on Friday and 300 pesos on Saturday and Sunday. Reservations may be made at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Bare Stage is located at Calle San Lucas 19 in Riberas del Pilar. Doors and bar open at 3 p.m.

Prepare for an afternoon of uproarious theater with “Durang and Deranged,” a dazzling showcase of plays that deliver gut-busting comedy. Featuring a sharp scene from Christopher Durang’s “Beyond Therapy,” two hilarious David Ives gems — “Sure Thing” and “Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread” — plus a witty car ride between two guys, and a chaotic supermarket showdown, this is a masterclass in hilarity.
