While the winter months in Ajijic are jam-packed with theater productions, chilli cookoffs, lip-sync concerts, a plethora of musical events, Semana Santa celebrations and heavy traffic, the summer months for those that live in our magical town year-round, can sometimes feel dry, even if it is the rainy season. But year rounders in Ajijic now have a summer event to look forward to.
This summer, Viva La Musica has planned a four-concert series titled “Romance in the Village,” featuring chamber music concerts held in private homes and small concert halls at lakeside.
Margrita van der Hoek believes fervently that all children at lakeside should have access to music education and the opportunity to play an instrument.
Delightful strains of traditional Mexican music will fill the air when musicians from near and far congregate Wednesday, June 6, at Chapala’s Centro Cultural González Gallo for the 16th Encuentro de Arpas, Salterios y Mas.

Ajijic’s La Bodega restaurant will host a romantic dinner with live entertainment by La Rondalla de Chapala Friday, May 18, 6 p.m., as a fundraiser for local pilot-in-training Julio Raygoza Villanueva.
