A five-member Guadalajara band specializing in a unique, lively and sexy genre of post-World War II bar songs are slated to perform at the Avocado Club Thursday, August 31.
After a summer recess, the Lakeside Little Theatre (LLT) gets back into the swing of the action with a pre-season fundraiser to assist its ongoing upgrading projects.
Ernesto Ramirez, who has gone on from an early musical education at the University of Guadalajara to become an internationally acclaimed tenor, and his wife, distinguished Canadian mezzo-soprano Michèle Bogdanowicz, will present a selection of beloved opera and show music in Ajijic, Thursday, August 24, 4 p.m., in the large Auditorio de la Ribera in La Floresta.

After 11 years at the helm María Elena Ramirez Aguilar has stepped down as administrator of the Centro Cultural González Gallo (CCGG), housed in Chapala’s former railway station. Named to fill her shoes is María de la Luz (Lucy) Mendoza Huerta, a local kindergarten teacher who brings past experience as a public servant to her new position.

The American School in Guadalajara has teamed up with the Lakeside Little Theatre to bring “Lincoln and Mexico: The Untold Story” to Lakeside, Friday, May 19 and Saturday, May 20.
