The Palace of the Cows is one of Guadalajara’s most venerable old mansions. It was closed to the public for some time but now it’s accepting visitors again.
The entrance, at Calle San Felipe 630, immediately grabs your attention. The windows and doors have a Moorish design that cried out, “Within these walls something exotic awaits you.”
Raul Nava, the custodian of the palace, opened the doors at 7 p.m. and led us into a huge, elaborately decorated room with a ceiling three stories high. Here we enjoyed a glass of wine and snacks as he recounted the building’s history.
