Lake Chapala Baptist

In his most recent sermon, “God’s Provision,” Pastor John Linton examined the five greatest needs of mankind, and God’s provisions for each of them: Forgiveness, relationships, worship, protection, and change. Do you have a longing to belong? To find God? To feel safe? To be sanctified? “Turn to the word of God,” he says, “Bury it deep in your heart. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Philippians 4:6)

Share thoughtful weekly sermons, uplifting music, and an ongoing thirst for true wisdom at Lake Chapala Baptist Church every Sunday at 10:45 a.m. Adult Sunday school starts at 9:45 a.m., and separate men’s and women’s Bible study groups meet on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

This week’s topic by Kriss Gang  is “How we have been incorporated as Individuals?” This service is based on American media theorist, writer, columnist and lecturer Douglas Rushkoff ́s book  ̈Life Inc. ̈ It traces how corporations went from being legal fictions to being the dominant fact of contemporary life. The result, corporatism, has infiltrated all aspects of civics, commerce, and our culture, from the first chartered monopolies to the branding of the self. Today we will explore the impact of corporatism on individuals, personal life decisions influenced by it and how we can move forward and beyond its hold on society. Deb Gang will be the service leader.

Lakeside Presbyterian

Lakeside Presbyterian Church’s English-language congregation meets at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday. This week, Dr. Wayne Cook will speak on “Pressing on to the Prize” using Philippians 3:12-16 as his text. Dr. Cook notes that it often gives people an advantage to be able to focus upon one single thing at a time. In the Olympics, the gold medal isn’t given for how fast someone can run, but on when they cross the goal. Paul talks about this in Philippians, when he talks about “forgetting the past and pressing on towards the mark.”

Please join us in person or watch our service later in the week at lpcchapala.org. Masking and social distancing protocols continue to apply during our service. If you need transportation to and from church on Sunday, call 376-106-0853:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday to Friday to arrange a ride.

The women’s prayer meeting has resumed at 10 a.m. on the first and third Thursday of each month at the church. All women of the community are invited.

You have family at Lakeside!
