Supplies needed to restore Ajijic Malecon

Ajijic Town Administrator Hector España is asking area expats to help the city workers restore the gardens at the malecon. The village workers have exhausted the supply of fertilizers, seeds and preventatives, and other vital garden supplies. Even the grass is thinning despite regular watering. To date, the written petition that was sent to municipal government offices has not been answered.

Democrats power up for U.S. elections

Mexico-based members of Democrats Abroad gathered in Chapala last weekend to hold their annual general meeting and zero in on strategies for supporting party candidates in the 2016 U.S. general elections.  Attending as a special guest, veteran Oklahoma politician Tom Guild (far left) shared insights with the group, including Dems Abroad Mexico chair Jody Quinnell, Chapala chapter founder Sandra Loridans and current local chapter chair Larry Pihl. 

A Children’s Day bash

Ajijic’s Asociacion de Charros will host a traditional fiesta for local kids on Sunday, April 26 from 4:30 p.m. at the Lienzo Charro bullring located on Calle Revolucion, a block and a half south of the highway.

Canadian generosity sparks flame of friendship

Hooking up with one of the hoses brought in with the huge shipment of equipment donated by Canada’s Firefighters Without Borders, grateful firemen and medical first responders from various Jalisco communities, members of the Lakeside Fire and Red Cross Assistance Group and guest dignitaries symbolized the flaming spirit of solidarity at a thank-you celebration held Wednesday, April 15 at the Hotel Real.
