Charros just one game from Pacific League championship

Wednesday, the Charros de Jalisco defeated the Tomateros de Culiacan 8-2 to take a 3-2 advantage in the Mexican Pacific League (LMP) final series, edging the Guadalajara ball club to the cusp of glory—one game away from the their second championship.

pg6aIt’s been a remarkable few months for Guadalajara’s pro sports teams. Last year, Atlas won their first Mexican soccer crown (the Liga Mx) in 70 years, and the Astros de Jalisco reached the final of the National Professional Basketball League in only their third season as a franchise.

It would be icing on the cake were the Charros to win one of their remaining two games against the Tomateros, both to be played at the Charro’s home stadium in Zapopan Friday, January 21, and Saturday, January 22.

Understandably, tickets for Friday’s game were snapped up soon after Wednesday’s key win in Culiacan. However, attendance will be limited to 60-percent capacity due to current Covid mandates in Jalisco.
