Astros begin quest for title number two Sunday

With a season-ending streak of 12 consecutive wins, the Guadalajara Astros finished the National Professional Basketball League (LNBP) regular season in first place, making the team hot favorites going into the playoffs.

pg14aEight of the ten teams in the league qualified for the playoffs, which will be played between September 25 and November 3.

The Astros have already won one title in 2022, capturing the Cibacopa (Pacific Coast Basketball Circuit) crown in July. This is the franchise’s third season in the LNBP. The team made the final last year, loosing to Fuerza Regia of Monterrey.

The Astros begin their quest for title number two with the first two games of the seven-game quarter final series against the Soles de Mexicali on Sunday, September 25, 3 p.m. and Monday, September 26, 8 p.m. Both games will be played at the Arena Astros (Polideportivo Manuel Avila Camacho), on Guadalajara’s Avenida Manuel Ávila Camacho, a few blocks from Plaza Patria. Tickets are available at the arena, in Plaza Patria, and at boletomovil.com. A full house is expected in the 4,000-seat arena.
