Floods cause havoc in Zapotlanejo

Around 160 properties in the Jalisco town of Zapotlanejo were damaged by flooding after a local dam overflowed during heavy rains in the early hours of Wednesday, August 15.

During the storm, three people were swept away by strong currents; two were rescued, but tragically, a 21-year-old man lost his life.

More than 130 officers from various agencies are participating in the cleanup effort, which includes clearing debris from five kilometers of streets. Approximately 15 vehicles have been reported as total losses.

According to local authorities, the floods caused structural damage to at least ten homes in seven Zapotlanejo neighborhoods. Dozens of affected residents reported the destruction of household items and belongings due to the flooding.
