The trains, which run every 15 minutes, reach speeds of up to 70 kilometers per hour. Athough much of the line is underground, it runs at surface level to the north and south of the city center, with barriers coming down over the road at level crossings. In one recent accident, a taxi cab was sliced in two by a train. Luckily the driver survived.
