Fifteen percent of female riders who use Guadalajara’s Mi Bici bike share program feel unsafe while using the service, according to a study commissioned by Imeplan, the Guadalajara metropolitan area planning institute.
Just over half of female respondents in the survey said they had been the target of “lascivious glances,” while 43 percent had been whistled at and 29 percent received lewd comments from men while riding. One-third of Mi Bici users are female, according to the research.
