Sanitary checkpoint schedule to change

With Covid-19 restrictions easing up in many parts of Mexico, some residents of this country may be contemplating taking to the road once again.

As of June 1, the sanitary checkpoints (filtros) within the Guadalajara metropolitan area located on the highways to Nogales, Colima and Chapala will only operate from Friday to Sunday.

However, those who decide to jump in their cars and head out for day trips will most likely eventually run into one of the filtros set up on major highways since the beginning of April.

Checkpoints in the rest of the state, including at the entrances to the tourist spots of Chapala, Tapalpa and Mazamitla will continue to operate seven days a week, from 8 a.m to 7 p.m., staffed by municipal officials.

According to official data, around 808,000 drivers and car passengers have been reviewed by personnel from various agencies employed at the nine checkpoints installed around the state.
