The Chapala branch of the Instituto Nacional de Migración (INAMI) remains open to handle immigration procedures for foreign citizens living or visiting in the lakeside area, with special precautions being undertaken in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Contacted by telephone Tuesday, March 24, office chief Ana Carolina Martínez Gómez reported that all immigration matters are being processed normally, although access to the office is now restricted to no more than four persons at one time to assure social distancing, with sanitizing gel available at the counter. Others in line must wait outside the door. Operations will continue in that vein until further notice.
