Obtaining a driver’s license in Guadalajara will – in theory, at least – be a smoother and quicker process come next month.
A program first announced last year that would allow documents to be submitted online, in addition to arranging for an appointment and paying for the license, will be introduced some time in May, according to Cesar Chagollan, director of licenses at the state Transportation Secretariat (Semov).
The online platform, referred to as “tramite en linea,” was originally planned for launch in March 2016.
Once the new system is in place, the time it takes to renew a license will be reduced by almost half to less than 25 minutes, Chagollan said.
