The U.S. Department of State has issued one of the largest narcotics rewards ever – US$10 million – for information leading to the arrest ofNemesio Ruben Oseguera Cervantes, also known as “El Mencho,” the leader of Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG).
The reward comes on the heels of this week’s announcement by the U.S. Justice Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regarding the results of Project Python, a six-month, DEA-led interagency operation targeting the CJNG.
“Project Python has resulted more than 600 arrests, 350 indictments, as well as significant seizures of money and drugs,” noted a Justice Department press release. “And there is more to come as the DEA continues its relentless attack on this remorseless criminal organization.”
