Chapala honors outstanding women

As part of a week-long agenda of special events scheduled in commemoration of  International Women’s Day, Chapala’s DIF family development agency and the Municipal Historical Archives put together Women Who Made History, a tribute to 20 individuals, living and dead,  recognized for their outstanding contributions to the community. The honor roll included three distinguished expatriates who left their own indelible marks at lakeside.


Ajijic hosts premiere of ‘16 Acres’

Smack in the middle of the Guadalajara’s International Film Festival, Ajijic became the stage for a cinematic coup with the Mexico premiere of “16 Acres,” the newly released documentary tracing the thorny reconstruction of New York’s World Trade Center (WTC) following the devastating terrorist attack of September 11, 2001.

Questions asked in bus crash aftermath

A few of the passengers on the tour bus that crashed on its way back to Ajijic from Puerto Vallarta on February 22 have questioned tour operator Viajes Ajijic about its follow up response, although the well-known local travel agency says it has gone out of its way to help passengers, both those injured and the non-injured.

Home burglaries abate

The Chapala police department and the Ministerio Publico (district attorney’s office) have noted a significant decline in reports of home burglaries over the past month.
