Congress debates polemic tax hikes amid protests

Mexico’s lower house, the Chamber of Deputies, has approved fiscal reforms which include the introduction of value-added tax (IVA) on junk food and soda. The controversial bill was then introduced to the Senate on Tuesday, where it faces a tricky ride and must be voted on by October 31.

Motorists who find themselves in difficulties on 134 federal highways can take advantage of a new app to get them out of trouble or report crimes. The only requirement to use the PF Movil app is to have a cellphone with an Android or Windows platform, or an iPhone.
