Culiacan top Charros 4-3 in game 5 winning championship series

Charros fans were surely disappointed by their rout in Culiacan this week during the final 3 games of the Mexican Pacific League championship series. The Charros, which had seemed to roll over most opponents in their first season back in the league in 20 years, were even expected by Culiacan baseball fans to beat the Tomateros. But it was not to be.

 


Charros victorious in second game of final

 

The Charros used strong pitching from starter Juan Delgadillo and relievers Terance Marin and Manny Acosta to shutout the Tomateros de Culiacan in the 2nd game of the Liga Mexicana del Pacifico last night and even the Championship series at 1 game apiece.

Famed Mexican pitcher frozen in bronze

Mexican baseball legend Fernando Valenzuela and his family dropped into Guadalajara last weekend as guests of honor of  the Charros de Jalisco, one of his former teams. The highlight of the visit was the unveiling of a bronze statue of the famed pitcher in the forecourt of the Pan American Baseball Stadium.
