Drunk driver ops double up

Highway checkpoints to detect drunk drivers reappeared in the Lake Chapala region last weekend, with revisions carried out on both sides of the Guadalajara–Chapala highway at Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos and an added trap set up on the south shore highway to Morelia near the turn-off to Jocotepec.

Jalisco’s Salvando Vidas (Saving Lives) campaign to keep drunk drivers off the road appeared in the lakeside area for the second weekend in a row, with checkpoints set up Saturday, August 12 and Sunday, August 13 on the outskirts of Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos.

Ajijic opinion poll rescheduled

The Chapala government has changed the date for holding a public opinion survey concerning its plan to upgrade both sides of the stretch of highway running through the center of Ajijic.
