Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra
De Falla’s “Three Cornered Hat, Suite No.1” and Bruch’s  “Symphony No. 3.”  Jesus Amigo of Spain conducts.  Anatoly Zatin, a Russian musician, composer and teacher residing in Colima, will be on hand to play the piano in one of his own works, “Double concerto for Piano, Trumpet and Orchestra.”  The concert will also feature Vladimir  Kafelnikov on trumpet.

Musical Tuesdays
A new Tuesday evening music/opera recital season gets underway on July 2 with a performance by Irasema Terrazas (soprano) and Sergio Vazquez (piano).  The duo will interpret a selection of works by Mozart, Bizet, Puccini and Bernstein. Eduardo Arambula (flute) and  Ana Silvia Guerrero (harpsichord) follow on Tuesday, July 9. All the performances will take place in the Degollado’s below-ground Sala de Camara (chamber hall).

Folk dancers
The Ballet Folclorico de Guadalajara, the troupe sponsored by the municipal Guadalajara government, has scheduled several performances on Wednesday evenings over the next two months.
Teatro Degollado, Wednesday, July 3 and 31, August 7, 14 and 21, all at 8 p.m.

Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra
The fifth concert of the summer season sees Italy’s Guido Maria Guida return to Guadalajara to lead the orchestra in Gustav Mahler’s longest piece, “Symphony No.3.”  The female section of the Jalisco State Choir and a children’s choir will be on stage.  Mezzosoprano Carla Lopez Speziale will perform the solos.

Little Virtuosos of Georgia
This dance and music company founded in 1995 in Tbilisi, Georgia features children aged from 7 to 14.  With amazing precision and technique, these disciplined performers put on a truly exceptional spectacle showcasing Georgian culture.

Young musicians
Mezzosoprano Maria Avalos and U.S. clarinetist Mike Cavin are joined by the Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil de Guadalajara (Guadalajara Youth Orchestra) for a concert co-sponsored by the Texas  Foundation for the Performing Arts.

Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra
Anatoly Zatin conducts Moncayo’s “Sinfonietta” and Prokofiev’s “Concerto No. 3 for piano and orchestra” and “Symphony No. 5.”  Pianist Vlada Vasilieva is the invited soloist.  This is the JPO’s final concert of the summer season.
