Cirque du Soleil back in town

The magic of Canadian-based circus arts troupe Cirque du Soleil has returned to Guadalajara with “Corteo,” a show that debuted in Montreal in 2005 and has subsequently been seen by eight million people worldwide.

This contemporary show centers on a clown who watches his own funeral taking place in a carnival-like atmosphere. It is partly inspired by “The Grand Parade: Portrait of the Artist as Clown” on display at the National Gallery of Canada.

Performances take place  at the Gran Carpa Blanca (Avenida Lopez Mateos, corner of Cubilete) through August 16 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays at 9 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays at 5 and 9 p.m.; and Sundays at 1 and 5 p.m.  Tickets from 800 pesos available from Ticketmaster and at the venue.
