Cochera Cultural exhibit

“Fuego, color y pincel” (Fire, color and brush) is the concept of Tapatío artists Salvador Rodríguez, Edgar Badial and Miguel Noyola, and Chapala artist Antonio López Vega, in an exhibit opening at the Cochera Cultural, Friday, August 26, 5 p.m.

CCA anniversary events

Centro Cultural Ajijic celebrates its 17th anniversary with art, song and dance.

Friday, August 26, 5 p.m.: The Juvenile Cameratta from the Manuel Gonzalez Serrano Cultural Center in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco.

Saturday, August 27, 6 p.m.: the Chapala Municipal Folkloric Ballet troupe.

Sunday, August 28, 6 p.m.: the Redes y Cantos de Chapala Choir.

Friday, September 2, 5 p.m., Tenor Ezequiel Ojeda interprets  operatic peices. Cost 100 pesos.

Sunday, September 4: The Ajijic Museo del Arte, at Privada Flores Magón 3 in Ajijic, opens its second exhibition.

Bare Stage Theatre

Roxanne Rosenblatt directs “A Four Way at Bare Stage—Genesis, Male Dating Rituals, End of Life and Sexual Deviancy,” Show dates are Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 26, 27 and 28. The curtain rises on all shows at 4 p.m.

The cast is Ron Mikulicic, Christine L’Ecluse, Pamela Johnson, Gisele Phipps, Mark Donaldson and Arleen Pace. Dance lessons

Dance lessons for September at the Ajijic Cultural Center are Tuesdays and Thursdays. Beginning East Coast Swing (triple step) runs 2 to 2:45 p.m. Intermediate class from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. Cost is 400 pesos for the month or 70 pesos per class.

BRAVO! Acting classes

Bernadette Jones offers acting classes at the BRAVO! Theatre, beginning Tuesday, August 30 through the first week of October. Two groups with up to eight participants in each are offered: Tuesdays, noon to 2:30 p.m. and Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The first two classes will enhance acting skills through monologue work. The last four classes will focus on scene study.

Dave McIntosh directs “Twelfth Night” by William Shakespeare, and is holding auditions Thursday, September 1 and Friday, September 2.

Registration is at 9:30 a.m. and auditions at 10 a.m., on the LLT terrace.

“Twelfth Night” is a fast-paced comedy with several interwoven plots of romance, mistaken identities and practical jokes.

McIntosh is looking for 11 men and three women. LLT welcomes and encourages everyone interested in acting, new or experienced, to attend auditions.
