Ribera Arts Review - August 26, 2023

Medieval concert

The Estudiantina Guadalupana Potosina will give a concert at the Centro para la Cultura y las Artes de la Ribera (Auditorio de la Ribera) Friday, August 25, 5 p.m.

Estudiantinas are groups of students in traditional Medieval dress who play antique instruments and sing serenades. This tradition originated in Spain and Portugal in the 13th century as a means for students to earn money or food.

The Ballet Folklorico del Ayuntamiento de Chapala will also perform. Tickets, 200 pesos at the offices of weekly newspaper Pagina Que si se lee! or call 332-249-1359 and 333-130-1794.

Drums for you

Celebrate the 18th anniversary of the Centro Cultural Ajijic with the 100 Drums Interactive Rhythm Concert by Yuku Percusiones (with you as the performing artist), Saturday August 26, 6 p.m. on the plaza in Ajijic. Reserve your drum at 331-719-3331. Cost: 150 pesos adults, 100 pesos children.

Summer Vacation, a presentation by the Ajijic Cabaret Troupe, performs at the Iron Horse Bar and Grill, Saturday, August 26, 7 p.m. This performance benefits Niños Incapacitados. Tickets are 600 pesos at the door. Arrive early to order snacks and drinks. Cash only.
