Help the Primavera
Following last week’s catastrophic forest fire, local authorities are inviting citizens to participate in relief efforts in the Bosque la Primavera this Saturday.
Volunteers will take part in emergency irrigation in the areas affected by fire, entrenching damaged trees and removing litter from the food and water consumed by firefighters.
The water will be transported via pumps and pipes supplied by the state government. Participants must be over 15 years old. They are requested to bring a bucket and advised to wear comfortable clothing and footwear.
The meeting point is at the Caseta 1 entrance point to the forest on Mariano Otero, at 8.30 a.m. on Saturday, May 5.

Mother’s Day lunch
The American Society (Amsoc) will host a special luncheon to celebrate Mother’s Day on Thursday, May 10.
For 120 pesos, lunch consists of salad and chicken cordon bleu followed by apple pie with ice cream. The bar opens at midday and lunch is served at 12.30 p.m.
There will also be a raffle for mothers, with prizes including a leather bag, necklaces, earrings and a bouquet of flowers.
Consulate talk
Prior to the Amsoc lunch on May 6, two special guests from the American Citizen Services section of the U.S. Consulate General in Guadalajara will give a talk, describing the services the diplomatic mission provides.
U.S. citizens attending the talk will be encouraged to sign up to the Smart Traveler Enrollment and vote in the general election.
Once the talk has finished, the consulate officers will answer any questions the public might have. The talk is scheduled to begin at 10.30 a.m. All are welcome.

Beatlemania
Could Sir Paul McCartney become the first artist to sell out the Omnilife Stadium? The former Beatle brings his Band on the Run tour to town on Saturday, May 5, promising a three-hour show packed with hits.
Despite hosting the likes of Aerosmith and Elton John, the Omnilife has never sold out for a concert. But Paul McCartney is no ordinary artist. The Liverpudlian will bring a 350-person team and eight tractor trailerss each carrying 25 tons of equipment, including 150 speakers with a capacity of 200,000 watts.
McCartney’s set list includes the Beatles’ classics “Hello, Goodbye,” “All My Loving,” “Yesterday,” “A Day in the Life,” “Get Back,” “Hey Jude,” and “Let It Be.” He will also perform post-Beatles material such as the James Bond theme “Live and Let Die,” as well as John Lennon’s “Give Peace a Chance” and George Harrison’s “Something” in tribute to his former bandmates.
Never ending tour
Days after McCartney’s gig, another 1960s legend comes to Guadalajara. Robert Zimmerman (better known as Bob Dylan) plays the Telmex Auditorio on Wednesday, May 9. Famous for his relentless live schedule, Dylan embarked on what became known as the “Never Ending Tour” in June 1988 and is still going to this day. It is certainly an apt moniker. Dylan played his 2,000th show of the tour in Dayton, Ohio, in October 2007.
Once heckled as a “Judas” for switching from acoustic to electric music, Dylan now plays a mix of classic and contemporary material. Recent set lists have included the anthems “Blowin’ in the Wind,” “Like a Rolling Stone,” “All Along the Watchtower,” “Ballad of a Thin Man,” “Highway 61 Revisited,” “It Ain’t Me Babe” and “Tangled Up in Blue.”
