Bake sale & brunch

St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Guadalajara invites the public to a bake sale and brunch in honor of Mother’s Day. It is set for Sunday, May 13, noon.

“People can sit in the garden and have a gourmet coffee and something to eat or we can wrap it up for them to take home,” said Marcy Matthew of St. Mark’s choir, which is putting on the fund-raiser.

The event happens after the 10:30 a.m. English Mass, to which everyone is always welcome, said St. Mark’s Rector Manuel Sonora. It will continue through the Spanish Mass, which begins at 12:30 p.m.

St. Mark’s is at Aztecas and Chichimecas in Colonia Monraz, a two-minute drive north of Plaza Mexico and near the end of Bus 33-A. (33) 3641-6620. Also see www.stmarksanglican.org.

The Magic Circle

Regular Reporter contributors John and Susy Pint will present a slide show entitled “The Magic Circle” at the American Society (Amsoc) on Thursday, May 24, 11 a.m.

This presentation should not be missed. The Pints believe they have found the answers to these questions: Why are there so many beautiful places within easy reach of Guadalajara? And why so much diversity in landscapes, flora and fauna?

They should know. The Pints have been exploring Western Mexico for 25 years and are the authors of “Outdoors in Western Mexico,” as well as many articles in the Reporter. Come and be surprised.
