Feeling the heat

If you’re feeling a little desiccated from the heat – the city’s hottest readings Thursday were registered in Tlaquepaque at 38 degrees Celsius (100.4F)  –  spare a thought for those poor souls in other parts of Jalisco state.  According to the National Weather Service, residents in Bolaños, Santa Rosa, Amatitan, Cuixtla and San Cristobal de la Barranca were sweltering under 45 degrees Celsius (113F). So, Tapatios, no complaining please.

Cycling record

Those adventurous cyclists who like to get together for mass night-time rides on Guadalajara’s streets have broken another record.

On Wednesday evening, starting at 11 p.m., an astonishing 6,000 cyclists rode 17 kilometers in unison along major city avenues such as Federalismo, Avila Camacho, Patria and Americas.  The Paseo Ciclista Nocturno, as it is known, has been going for five years and has grown rapidly as “bike fever” gripped the city after the introduction of the popular Sunday Via RecreActiva.

For more information on the night-time rides visit Paseo Ciclista Nocturno on Facebook, or www.bici10.org for other  biking-related issues in Guadalajara.
